I’ve bin a few times in France, it’s a very nice country with a beautiful nature. And some nice Peugeot’s. Paris is always a visit worth, I’ve been there with my 309GTI, the ride was great. The Eifel you don’t wane miss, the view is great. We also went to the Peugeot show room at the Champs-Élysées, made some nice pictures a some cars.
Luckily some parts also mounted on other cars, but special 309 parts are becoming very rare.
But it’s a great reliable car, you must have a hobby.

@ Ace-Rimmer: you really think scrapyards are full of 309s??? Lol, this was 10 years ago, but then the government encouraged people to buy newer cars so now there are 206s, 406s, 207s, and 307s and stuff like that in French scrapyards. Actually, it's very difficult to find only one 309 for breaking (where I live, there are no more 309s in scrapyards, only recent cars). But the only good thing is that the 309 had quite good sales here so you can find a lot of people breaking their car.

@ Johan: You're totally right!! We've got to have a hobby!!! But this very hobby, not a lot of people have it. :happy1: By the way, here in France people consider the 205 to be a classic, but not the 309, strange...
Yeah, France is a nice country, but I think every country is. The Netherlands is a very nice country too and you have very good Wafelen. ::d Plus Amsterdam is so nice!!

You are quite right, every country has it’s on characteristics. And indeed the wafels tast very good. :super:
A visit to Amsterdam is always nice, there are some interesting thing to see.

Here in Holland the 205 is also more popular, I have owned a 205GTI 1.9, and it’s really a nice looking and handling car. But a 309 in the right conditions and colors is is not much less. And we have the MI16 engine standard in it.
Does any one now, if a hollow beam rust from the inside? Mine does look good from the outside but I can’t really see the inside of it.

A very very nice car you've got!! It looks so nice! :coeur:
I hope you keep it this way for a very long time 'cause that's already a classic. I really prefer the 309 over the 205, but that you already know it since I'm here.

Regarding the "hollow beam", what do you mean? Headlamp, fog lamp, spot lamp?

I own this car for more than 12 years now, and my attention is to keep it so for a while. :merci:

I meant the ‘poutre creuse’ translated in French, the place were you put the jacket under when you raplce a tire, hope you understand what I mean.

Do you have big plans for your 309?

So you mean inside the boot, right? Where the jack goes (right side). The interior of the boot does rust if there's water leaks. In my 309 GTI, the panel between the rear lights has rusted from the inside because of water leaks. But the problem is that it's impossible to know where the water comes from. I have replaced the rear lamp seals, the boot seals, but water continues to come in. Some people say that water can come from the fuel cap.
(I hope I understood right)

Regarding my 309, I still have a problem (sometimes it won't start), but I hope to repair it next week. I'm just waiting for the parts. Other than that, I need to change the auto gearbox, but I found one new. And of course, when I found it, the gearbox I currently have worked again. :hehe:
I also have a play in the steering rack. So I need to change it... As you can see, there are still some stuff that needs to be done. :/

I meant the part on the picture below.

I have found my leakage a while ago, and it’s coming from the tank filler cap. One person sprayed the car with a water hose and I was inside the car, so I could found the leakage. I have always a towel in the jacket compartment, so the water does not get further in to the boot.

I had also the starter problem some it didn’t start it was the injection relays. :]
You have some work to do, but it getting alright I see. :super:

Oh you mean the side frames. Okay!! I've not had any problem so far with both my 309s with these parts. My 309 SL is very rusty on the front but no rust on the side subframes. Do you have any rust there?

The injection relay? Mmmm... Sometimes when I start the car, it starts, but sometimes I turn the key and there's nothing at all. Not even a single noise. When I turn the key, all the lights go off and no noise, nothing. Apparently, it seems it can be a lot of things. Maybe the fusebox itself, or the starter (though I think the starter alone cannot do that but I may be wrong). I'm going to change both to see what happens. If it doesn't make any difference, I'll probably change the fuel relay too. On the GTI16, it seems the electronic module is often in cause, but in my case, it's not that.

I only had some rust on inside from the side frames by the fuel tank, I was wondering if the inside of these frames where also weak spot of the 309, but luckily it seems not. I welded a new plate in on both sides.

Did this 2/3 years ago.

When I had this with my relay, the engine check light on dash didn’t went on. And the fuel pump didn’t turn.
If the starter motor does not work properly you often only hear a click when trying to start. Or maybe a bad earth connection.
Hope you will find it easily.

I hope so too. ;)

As for the rust, I've never seen rust there. And what about the bumper fixings? They should be rusted too, right?

This was also rust on the inside of the frame, by the wheel arch and fuel tank. I removed the fuel tank to get some access to these spot. When I look on the internet, I see more 309’s with this kind of rust. Next week I let someone repaint the begin ad the rear arches.
For the bumper fixings I did some prevention at the rear, and at the front I could not see any rust there, not yet.
