Re: 309GT transmission oil type

I also knew that this gearbox uses 10W40, that is why I put 75W90, because I found this on wikipedia: "many modern gearboxes use a 75W90 gear oil, which is actually of equivalent viscosity to a 10W40 motor oil." Also I heard that this gearbox uses GL-5, so I will buy Liqui Moly 75W90 GL-5. I used Li...

Re: [missa91] My 309GR 1.3 '86

I put in some Wurt sealant for the cooling system. That fixed the water leak, as on the gasket, so the water pump, and the thermostat housing. I've added about 3500km to the engine since then :D So no major repairs but a quick fix. Now i know the next time something happens, the engine must be exch...

If yes you can keep using this grade, the gearbox is not a clock and in fact the BE1 was first fitted with engine oil.
It was OK, not that bad, it was kinda hard to get into first when cold, but it didn't bother me.

What about the transmission oil? What grade should I use?

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine

In my experience quality drive shafts are expensive. I could choose here by three quality grades, first there was this Italian made for 120eur, the second one was a german refurbished one for 170eur, and a french original for 260eur. Note that this is the left drive shaft, which is some 30% cheaper...

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine

This is my second one. I bought it almost 2 years ago, but it was never tuned properly.

Yes that is the part. I thought that a drive shaft was somenthing else.

I am not sure if I can replace it piece by piece, but both parts are worn, so I will buy a new one.

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine

Now the car passed 200k km and the engine still works very well. I managed to calibrate the carb last summer with a CO tester and got it right. It has a problem with the left wishbone. I think that what it is called in english, in romanian it is "planetara". It is the thing that connects the transmi...

Yes it was the speedo cable (it's my second one in almost a year) Maybe a faulty part? The part that goes in the speedo unit was very worn. I bought a new cable and it works very well.

The "snail" that I mention is actually number 2 in the picture.

Number 5 is OK.

Could that be the problem? Or the speedometer unit in the dash is broken?

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine

I have never tried. Maybe you should discuss with Atila97. It is now our référence in GT's'topics ^^ :hehe: Yes, it's me the master!! I don't think that one of 405 fit in the dashboard. I've looked on the ServiceBox and it's not the same thing. But, you can find one from a 205. It's exactly the sam...

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine

Today the speedometer broke, and I can't find a replacement.

Does anybody know if one from a 405 with the same top speed (230kph) fits in my dashboard?

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine

But, can you drive it even it it is noisy? That's the thing, the sound is completely gone with wd40. It drives really well, gears change smoothly. Only some vibrations in the clutch peddle for 10 seconds. If the sound returns and gets worse, I will have no choice but to take the gearbox out. Until ...

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine

What is the brand? LUK? Valeo? something else? LUK, it cost 150 euros. It was a kit, pressure plate, clutch disk and bearing. The flywheel was OK. Tomorrow I will try and post a video. Now i have 2 options: Put some wd40 from time to time, and hope that it won't break or paying 100euros to a servic...
