In Holland we have a few clubs where you can meet some other people with fast Peugeot's. At the moment I'm not a member off a club. But the last week's there are more people who restoring 309, instead of dismanteling them for the MI16 engine.

I did this when I was in the car, and I didn't see any bleu smoke, but maybe I have to look al little bit better.

The camshaft seals where also replaced. When I drive it I don't see any smoke, but maybe I have to take a better look. I will keep an eye on it.

Piston rings where changed, and the buses where honed.

As I can see the level has dropped about 4/5 milimeters.

I am driving the car for normal use, and I have put the oil in what I always uses, Catrol magnatec 10W40.

Very nice, curious to see the pictures when the are refurbisched.

What is the best way to get a reconditioned engine to drive, I now drove about 1500 km, maybe I should have ask this qeustion a little bit earlier
And is a little oil consumption is normal?

It’s always a complement when a person with some experience, says something like this about the 309.
And I still like the drive of a 309GTI16.

Indeed the Golf was a little bit more aggressive but here they sad the engine from the golf was outdated because it was an 8 valve. And the standard equipment from the golf was very poor, and the 309 was a nicer car to drive. But it depends what you expend from a car and that is more a personal qeus...
