Finally I found a GTI!
So guys, it has been a long long time since I last was on the forum. If anyone remembers, I used to own a 1.3 Simca PH1 5door. But i crashed it beyond any repair. Thereafter I bought a white 1.4 Tu3. It was with me for a year, done with it over 50K km very little maintenance, was a fun drive non the...

I put in some Wurt sealant for the cooling system. That fixed the water leak, as on the gasket, so the water pump, and the thermostat housing. I've added about 3500km to the engine since then :D So no major repairs but a quick fix. Now i know the next time something happens, the engine must be excha...

It depends on the climate. I use some Total, I think it's SAE80-90. But I'm not sure about your transmission.

I have a lot of exams at the time. So when time permits I will open the engine. I noticed a piece of red seal on the oil cap. Like a piece of silicone, it could easily be a part of the gasket, but it beats me how it could get on the oil cap.

Re: [missa91] My 309GR 1.3 '86
So I started the engine today, noticed that water was again missing, so it is leaking somewhere even when the engine is not running. There is no white smoke at the tail pipe, so I don't think the water is going into the cylinders, but it seams there is a crack somewhere. I will go for the replacemen...

Guys you are welcome to visit any time! I am a passionate cook, and am told by friends who are not from here that our national cuisine is very nice and different. But as i think of it, who's better at cuisine than the French... I found an replacement engine. At 150eur it doesn't sound that bad. But ...

Know i know to inspect it at regular intervals
The chain was replaced a while back, maybe in a few 10K km it will be replaced too, if we can repair the engine. LOL

I am looking at this car for maybe buying it http://www.polovniautomobili.com/oglas2 ... ugeot_309/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Do you have some advice on what to watch for? I owned only the gasoline engine, so I am completely novice in diesel engines.

Re: [missa91] My 309GR 1.3 '86
Yes, this one is the original from the factory. It was never opened. A lot of spare parts, but the head was never lifted. I drained the oil, which had begun to burn and stick, put in some new one. Put in more coolant and it started. Easily. But as soon as it starts and gets hot to about 70,80 degree...

Re: [missa91] My 309GR 1.3 '86
So, after having overheating problems which resolved by a alternator belt change, and tightening a rattling spark plug, the engine decided to give out. Smoke is pouring out by the rocket cover seal, just above the filter, smells like a great deal of the oil has been burnt. The engine is very hard to...

Spark plug getting loose
I have a little problem with my spark plugs. I replaced the whole set about 30K km ago and ever since then the spark plug on the third cylinder is getting loose every 5-8K km. I'm talking about the second cylinder from the transmission. That's the third, right? I tighten it down firmly, as I do all ...

Re: High coolant temp
I've taken a picture of the changed belt. Interesting to notice is that there was no squeaking noise, nor any low charge indication from the instruments. But the belt was in absolute terrible shape. Does anyone know the standard change interval for this belt? http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/8245/...
