Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine
Today I have some bad news too... On a corner, someone with a very large SUV, hit my front bumper and ripped it from it's place. The damage is not that bad, it could be fixed by me, but I am hoping that the insurance would replace the bumper.
Does peugeot still sell bumpers for the 309?

Here I can find the bumper, new, but without the fog lights.
It's very good that there is no damage to the fender and the headlight, nor indicator. Such a bumper costs like 20eur and then you just paint it and it will be ok.
As I can see the fitting on the fender where the bumper holder is isn't damaged as well, that is very good.

I found it for almost 100eur new. Now I hope that the insurance will cover it.missa91 a écrit :Here I can find the bumper, new, but without the fog lights.

Here I see that you can find both the one with and without the fog lights. Mine is without.

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine
I finished today with the insurance. Now I have to find the part and the insurance will pay for it. I said to them that I found one for 100eur and they said it should be ok, we will see monday when I will make a formal request.
Now I know how the law is here with the insurance. Legally they pay up to 15% of the value of the car when it was new. This is for cars older than 12 years. I asked how they know how much it was worth then, and they said they have some references with almost all of the cars in the country. And if they don't find it they compare it with a similar car now in sale (probably the 308?).

If you were somewhere near the border we could arrange a meeting. I could bring along a few peugeot fans as could you, so there would be some barbecue and what not...

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine
Well next week I am going to Craiova, so about 100km from the border. I am staying 10 days there. I know someone to fix some things with the bodywork of the car.missa91 a écrit :If you were somewhere near the border we could arrange a meeting. So we could meet then. Where do you live?

100km south-east from the capital, Belgrade. That would be great, but the problem is that I have a lot of commitments here and I simply can't get away. Maybe some other time. I will get in touch with some of our guys from the PeugeotClub Srbija, so maybe we could organize a meeting.
I'm really sorry about me not being able to come.

We also have a peugeotclub romania, a big one actually. I never attended though and there is no 309, only a 405 I think. The usually meet once a year somewhere in the carpathians.
We also have a peugeot club bucharest, they meet every thursday in the center of the city, but i never been there neither.
Actually there are very few 309s in Romania. And I have yet to find an identical one to mine lol not even at the scrap yard. Only diesels, 1.3s and 1.6s...
Also I will be glad to meet you sometime. I go to Craiova a lot. I think at the end of september I will go again. We could meet at Potile de Fier 2, I don't know how you call it, it's the second dam on the Danube. Because I can't legally drive outside the EU yet

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine
That is my problem as well, I don't have an international licence and a green card for my peugeot. At this time I am preoccupied with the repairs on my 309. As things progressed, we decided to paint the entire car. I am now working off the hours in the garage, so painting is free and I pay only the materials needed. all in all something like 60-50eur to paint the whole car in its original color.amilo123 a écrit : Because I can't legally drive outside the EU yet
