air conditioning in a 1986 peugeot 309 GT?
Hi, I was wondering what the costs would be to put an air conditioning system in this car?

Re: air conditioning in a 1986 peugeot 309 GT?
Thanks a lot!
Regarding A/C you first need to know that the ventilation system on the 309 is quite bad so the A/C will not work very good, as on recent cars, far from it!! I have A/C on my 309 GTI and once I repaired it I was very disappointed. When it's very hot, it does refresh the air within the car but that's pretty much all it does. And on my other 309 which doesn't have A/C I can do the same by opening all windows and the sunroof. On very hot days, I use A/C just when I enter the car and I cannot use it when I'm drivig because the sun is so strong that the A/C doesn't change anything! The problem is the ventilation system which is not efficient at all.
So, it really depends on the price you're paying. If you can get the whole system for free, it could be nice to have it fitted in your car. But if you plan on spending money, be aware. Plus, the car will consume more fuel, much more fuel.
