LUK, it cost 150 euros. It was a kit, pressure plate, clutch disk and bearing. The flywheel was OK.

Tomorrow I will try and post a video.

Now i have 2 options: Put some wd40 from time to time, and hope that it won't break or paying 100euros to a service so they can remove the gearbox again and hope that the warranty covers it. And even if it does, the law says that they can replace the part in 30days, and given the high price, it is in their best interest to stall as much as possible.

I chose the first option, because I spent a lot of money with this car over the past 2 years. On average I payed around 250 euros every month just for service costs, it is like I am leasing it or something...

That's the thing, the sound is completely gone with wd40. It drives really well, gears change smoothly. Only some vibrations in the clutch peddle for 10 seconds.

If the sound returns and gets worse, I will have no choice but to take the gearbox out. Until then I hope it is nothing serious :)

My theory is that somehow the springs on the pressure plate don't return to their position immediately, and press on the bearing, causing the vibrations. This would explain why now it is better with wd40.

I will know for sure when the camera arrives.

OK. For the moment, keep using WD40. ;)

Today the speedometer broke, and I can't find a replacement.

Does anybody know if one from a 405 with the same top speed (230kph) fits in my dashboard?

:hehe: Yes, it's me the master!!

I don't think that one of 405 fit in the dashboard. I've looked on the ServiceBox and it's not the same thing.
But, you can find one from a 205. It's exactly the same, same reference. This can fit in your dashboard with no problem

The Veglia speedometer from a 405 or a 205 looks like the original but I don't now about the speed indication.

I see.

But now I am thinking that it is not the speedometer that it is broken, but the "snail" (I don't know exactly how it is called in English) inside the differential. Because, I took the cable out of the gearbox and manually rotated it, and the needle moved. When it is attached to the gearbox it only moves from time to time, and never indicates the correct speed, nothing over 40.

Before it broke, for about a year now, the needle trembled a lot at low speeds, and as the speed increased the needle trembled less and less, until it finally stabilized at around 120kph. I always thought it was from the speedometer itself. I thought it's magnets were worn. That's why last Autumn I took it out and put some wd-40 inside of it, and some grease inside the cable. The problem went away for a couple of months.

Also the problem could be fixed temporarily if the cable was moved in a certain position.

When it worked it always showed the correct speed.

What do you think?

This is the view of parts in the gearbox where the cable of the speedometer is attached
If it can help you, because I'm unable to help you for your problem.

The "snail" that I mention is actually number 2 in the picture.

Number 5 is OK.

Could that be the problem? Or the speedometer unit in the dash is broken?

What about the speedo cable?

I had the same problem, with me the needle in the speedo moved when put on a drill, but put back in the transmission it didn't. I found a second speedo cable and replaced the old one. The problem was resolved. It had looked as it were the pinion in the transmission, but it was the cable.

Anyway, hope you fixed it by now!

Yes it was the speedo cable (it's my second one in almost a year) Maybe a faulty part? The part that goes in the speedo unit was very worn. I bought a new cable and it works very well.

Now the car passed 200k km and the engine still works very well. I managed to calibrate the carb last summer with a CO tester and got it right.

It has a problem with the left wishbone. I think that what it is called in english, in romanian it is "planetara". It is the thing that connects the transmission and the wheel. Now when I turn right it bangs quite hard...

I haven't had the time to look into it yet because the car is not my daily driver any more. But I have no plans of selling it :)
