Gear box questions

Hello,

does anybody know what gear boxes where used in the Peugeot 309? Are they all the same, for example the 60 hp TU the same one like the 75 hp TU or the 75 hp TU the same like the 1.6 or 1.8 XU? Is there an overview of the engine speeds (rpm) in relation to speed (km/h)?
For example, my Graffic with 1.4 TU and 75 hp has at 120 km/h in 5th gear an engine speed of 3600 rpm, I would be interested in what other engines (bigger and smaller) have at this speed.
Also the automatic is interesting.

Regards Thomas

For the manuals gearboxes: the TU have MA gearboxes, the XU have BE gearboxes (BE1 first, then BE3 on mk2).
I think the "SIMCA" engines was whit BE gearboxes.
The automatic gearbox was the 4HP, only for petrol XU.
Every type of engine have is own gear ratio.
Sorry I can explane a lot of things about manual gearboxes but not in english :triste1:

Yes, the Simca engines only have BE gearboxes.
We could do the test to see the differences between engines. But I can tell you at 100km/h because I don't have the chance so often to drive at 120 because I only drive on small roads. Anyway, I'll try to.

That means my 75hp TU has a MA gearbox?

If I understan right, the 1.1 TU has other gear ratio as the 1.4 TU, it is "shorter"?

No problem. I have the same problem with the questions...

Then I have an other question. How is it with the speedometer? It gets its information about the actual speed of transmission also. The 309 with the BE gearbox have a speedometer from Veglia, the MA one from Jaeger. My car had a Jaeger but I changed it to one from Veglia. Is the speed shown as still the same? The Navi System says that my speedometer shows 6 km/h more than I drive real. Or is this normal?

Yes.
The veglia and Jaeger speedometers are the sames for all engines, a speedometer have to be optimist because he can't be perfect so he have to mistake on this way (imagine he say 90 and you are on 110, not good at all)
your The Navi System is optimist too, but less.

O.K., I just thought that maybe the speedometer drive on the gearbox is different because it is a different speedometer type and so it shows more than the original Jaeger (and the tires of 309 with Veglia are bigger, 14" for example). But the shift points (km / h) are also consistent with the Jaeger.
