Air conditioning retrofit?

Hello,

it is possible to retrofit an air conditioner in a Peugeot 309 with the TU-engine? My car is only used from spring to autumn and so it is sometimes not really enjoyable inside when the sun is burning. So I mostly use my Mercedes with A/C at hot days and let the 309 at home.
This is the only thing that I don´t like at the 309, and so my biggest wish is to have a air conditioner for it.
Does someone know if it is possible? Or has someone done it? If it is possible, what do I need and do I have to expand the dashboard?

Regards, Thomas

In order to do so, you need to find all the parts first. Then, you need to remove the dashboard since you will change the complete heating unit. It's not that complicated because it's a 309, it's a 20 year-old car so everything is quite basic and almost no knowledge is required.
But be careful because even if your 309 has A/C, don't forget it's A/C from last century and it's not very efficient because the ventilation system is not powerful enough to cool the interior decently if it's very hot.

Hello,

hmm, the dashboard must be removed - this is not so good. I have made this last May because my original dashboard was cracked in several places on the top (the sun was to blame :erk:). It was not difficult but it is not a nice work and I think the "new old" dashboard will not be lucky if I remove it again. It is a used one from 309 SX.
My car looked so:

Oh je 2.jpg
Then I'll have to think twice ... But I think I'll leave it then the original...

Be careful, do not remove your dashboard twice or you may never put it back...
