Hello,

does any one now when I have to replaced the timing belt. I have replaced the belt in 2002, with a 212000km on the clock. After this they placed a sticker under the bonnet, but it's hard to read what's on it, that the belt dont need a replaced after 5 years, but a 120000km. There is now 267000 on the clock.

Greetings

Hello,

it must be replaced all 120.000 km or after 5 years if you didn´t drive so much kilometers after the last changing.
I had the same problem last year, it was changed at 130.000 km in 2002, then the car had 168.000 km on the clock and I had to change it because of the time (it was high time  , 7 years had passed...).
You should immediately change the water pump with this.

Greeting Thomas

Hello,

I have made an appointment for next week to replace the timing belt, just to be sure.

Greetings.

Totally correct. It doesn't matter whether the car was driven for 120 000 kms or not, once 5 years have passed, you should replace the timing belt. Actually, it's a rubber belt so time makes it crack, even if you don't drive the car at all.
Don't forget to change everything you can, because once the timing belt is removed, it's much easier to replace a lot of things such as the water pump. It's a €400 to €800 cost depending on where you go but it's absolutely necessary.

I paid approximately 600 Euros for the change of timing belt and water pump last year. It was made in the Peugeot garage in Stuttgart, and they are not cheap...

I have a garage nearby that really is not expensive.

You're both quite lucky. If I bring my car at a Peugeot dealer here, I think it would be much more than €800. The hourly rate is €77 which is very expensive.

I do this kind of work by myself, it is too expensive to let my car at Peugeot's or another same place.

Hopefully, I have an 8 valves model, it is easier !! By myself, it costs 150€ to do it and 3 hours to do it ;)
