Sometimes the engine starts (from 10 attempts), sometimes not. If starts, it works well and does not turn off. So do not blame the wire.

Model Solex (from Russia) without automatic starter. Delivered via an adapter. Put to test. Old carburetor cleaner (Weber), and will return to the place.

When your engine don't want to start, have you tried to take out a spark plug ? To know how it look (moist/dry, dark/white...)
This might be of some help to know where could the problem be.

Unconnect the coil and connect a spark plug directly to it. Then place the spark plug body to ground (a mechanical part of your car, for example). call a friend to try to start the engine. You should be able to see a light from it. If it is not so visible, your coil needs perhaps to be changed.

Another test: just put some gasoline in your carburator directly and try to start. If it works, trouble into the carburetor. Something is going wrong inside.

Connect the not connected cylinder and disconnect another one, and do the test again: if it is not the same result as you got before, then you may have a trouble on this cylinder.
