Re: alargeau -- my 2 309s --
Just finished cleaning my 309 SL. A good cleaning inside and outside, I even cleaned the engine bay. The car was very dirty inside, my towels and sponges were all black. Now the car looks good and it feels nice to drive it! Just need to paint the wheel covers and to refurbish the alloys and she'll look even nicer.
Things to be done:
- Change the real axle
- Change the shocks
- Change the front tyres
- Change the front and rear lamps to new ones
- And then I'll respray it.

Thanks, but if you want it, you would have to come here (and pay taxes in your country jajajaja)! You can see it's got a/c but now it's not working because an employee at an a/c specialist broke the two pipes on the condenser. So now I've got to change it because the boss said his employee was not responsible and I've got no proof. Last year I changed everything, the a/c system was all new and it worked great.

Re: [alargeau] My 2 309s
The automatic gearbox is making me crazy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And most of the time it doesn't. Today, I bought 6 liters of fluid and drained 2.4 liters. tomorrow, The fluid has a bad colour but you need to drain 11 times before all the fluid is entirely new! Now, I got 4, but I still have some to go...

Why don't you try to install a DSG gearbox
?

Hello there,
long time gone since I was here for the last time.
Hope your cars are still "alive" and running well!? This days I thougt of your "japanese-GTi" when I found this:

Looks like your GTi, only a 5-doors version. RHD, the red stripe around the car, GTi-trim, ... maybe a brother of your 309!?

Re: [alargeau] My 2 309s
Hi again, ^^
Yes, it's been some time! Time goes by but it seems passion is still here, so that's still good news and I guess that's good enough.
The cars are still alive, yes, especially the SL one which was quite near from dying but I managed to save it from the insurance company and their so called expert whose probably as expert as my grand-mother was. Anyway, the car won't die so I guess I'll have it with me all my life, like a trustworthy companion.
And the GTI is resting peacefully.
Funny the picture you got from the internet!! Ha ha, looks like a copycat. Looks like a 1989-90 model with a nice resprayed body.

Re: [alargeau] My 2 309s
Hi there,
what happend to your SL? Did you have an accident?
And what about the GTi? Is it stored and resting or you mean R.I.P.?
Yes, passion is still enough. But the GTi16 has suffered an engine damage and is still waiting to be fixed ( hope this happens the next few weeks ), the 405 is still running and there is a "new" 309 waiting for the springtime to share the driving-job with the GTi16 during the sunny days.
It´s a GR with the 1,4l TU, want to get it lowered and a bit stiffer. Nice rims an a bit more power. The engine has done only 43000Km in 23 years.
The clutch and breaks in the front need to be done. Absolutely no rust on the body and underneath the 309.

Re: [alargeau] My 2 309s
Nice one, for upgrades on the 1.4 look what the 106 guys does. With more kilometers on the clock taking lighter pistons and conrods form a TU3JP would be an option but for you I think just another cylinder head and camshaft can do the trick.
NOUVELLE 309: TOUJOURS PARTANTE!

Re: [alargeau] My 2 309s
Hi Matthias!
Yes, I had an accident and the expert didn't want to repair it. I can still drive it though since it's just declared economically irreparable but still repairable. It was quite tense with both the so-called expert and the insurance company but luckily he made some mistakes so my lawyer managed to get the company pay for the repairs. The car is still waiting, the repairs should be done in the next couple of weeks. But the story is not over yet so we're still cautious.
My GTI is resting as resting in a stored place, but I've got no time to take care of it so I really don't know what to do with it. Sometimes I'm thinking about selling it, and then I'm like "no way", and later on I'm like "it'd be easier", and "no, come on", and so on... I think I'm not alone in my head!
I see you've got a new companion. This is a very clean example you've got here!! It seems in very very good shape. If you're thinking about putting alloys, I might be interested in buying the wheel covers if they're in good condition and if you're okay.
The problem with these models is clearly the front axle, I find it a bit dangerous to be honest. The only good thing about it is that it tends to make you drive carefully... and slowly. I don't know about this very engine, but mine with the old Simca 1.3 can behave both like an angel and the devil. When I'm driving like a city-guy the fuel gauge moves dreadfully fast, but when I'm going like a countryman it doesn't move (until half). Anyway, it's nice seeing people still buying 309s.

Hi Johan!
Well, some are, and some aren't, but I don't care about that because I can find quite everything so that's not the biggest problem right now. If you know what I mean... I should get a reply very very soon. Fingers crossed!
