Re: My black beauty
Today one of the last packages arrived. New original mounting blocks for the rear axle. They're different from the regular GTI and a lot more expensive. Those bloody french idiots.

Re: My black beauty
Update.
The work continues very very slowly at the moment.
Rear axle is in progress at the dealer, and due the winter they have a lot of work so no progress on my parts.
The brakelines are in and will be reproduced sometimes next month.

Yesterday the powdercoater called that my parts were ready for pickup. One package RAL 9005 and the other RAL 5010

Next is to remove the right driveshaft for renewing the dustcaps.

Re: My black beauty
Long time no posts here
Time for a major update.
Found on Ebay a set blank key's.

The fueltank is "removed" so I could reach the last 2 brakelines.

Brakelines removed and of to a mate for copying them in copper.

And then a little problem that turns out to be a big problem.
The brake load limiters on the rearbeam aren't available anymore.
The search has started and there are 2 options. 1 is to use the limiters from a regular GTI but very expensive, and the other solution is to use the limiters from a 306. Not exactly the same so the brakelines need te be sorted out.
I started re-assembling the subframe (no pics yet) but I found 1 so you can see the colors.
Strutbrace wil not be installed for now. It's a tight fit and it has to be done on the car.

Re: My black beauty
And the bad news continues. Lost my job last week and found a fairly large piece of rust in the left rear wheel arch.
And I'm affraid there's some more to come on te right side.

Also found rust behind the headlights in under the rear bumper.
So the plans to get the GTI16 on the road this year will be put very far away.
Before I discovered the rust I had was considering to cruise over to the meeting in august, but now...

Re: My black beauty
Johan, see for yourself
Pics say more than words.

In the meantime there are some bits and pieces comming together. The rearaxle is almost re-assembled, so I don't have to worry about it.

Subframes also comes together nicely.

And some little stuff, not that important but done is done. :ymblushing:

In the meantime the search is started for some help to repair all the rust and respray the car. It' gonna take a lot more time than I hopped, but better now torough than regret later.
