The rust spots are quite normal here, especially if the engine bay is always clean. I personnally don't clean the engine bay too much, it looks a little bit dirty but at least there's no rust at all.
Since you're in Holland, are you aware of any meeting in Holland?

I did only do the major parts, as the Air filter housing a respray and a couple of other things like the support of the power steering can.

I have found this video on the internet because I don't understand french, what do the say over these car's, the video looks nice.

Well, at first they say the three GTI letters are known by everyone thanks to Volkswagen and Peugeot (Golf & 205 GTI). Then they compare the 308 GTI with the 309 GTI16 but no need to understand French for that.
They say the 309 GTI16 has a power/weight ratio far better than the 308 GTI even if the latter gains 40hp, it's much heavier due to comfort and electronic stuff. They also say that the 309 GTI16 delivers all the power between 5 and 7000 rpm whereras the 308 GTI delivers it at 4000 rpm, which gives an impression, but only an impression.
About the driving experience, they say there's no way the 309 can compare to the 308, the latter benefits from the latest technology, has a very good driving experience and is way much easier to play with. The 309 suffers from an old and very tough steering (they say you need muscles :hehe: ), a rear axle which is not very good plus you don't have all the technology in it. They also say the equipment is very basic and once again there's no comparison possible between the two cars.
So finally, they think the 309 is a very powerful car which can still hold its head high when comparing itself to the 308 but once again, there's a car for pilots and another one for standard people.

In Holland there is no really a 309 community, we do have some peugeot gti club’s which are also for the 309. And these have some meetings with al types of gti from Peugeot.

In Holland they think that there is only one and that was the vw golf gti, but they where so wrong at that time. You don’t see many 309 on the road here today. But that’s what I like, it’s just an under estimated car.

Well, I'm afraid to tell you that's the same in France even though 309s are really not hard to spot. Nevertheless, 309s in good condition are quite rare and I don't see many of them where I live. For most people it's just a daily driver and nothing else. And for GTI owners, it's just a way to have fun. You usually buy one when you've got your license, scare your friends with it and impress your girlfriend...
But sure, it's definitely an under estimated car!

I had the same problem recently but it was a loose cable at the back of the clocks.

That was also my problem, when I was driving I could here a sound coming from the clocks, also the 'rubber bal' wich sits in the engine compartment was coming lose, so I had to put that also back.

Had exactly the same. Actually, the thing is that when you want to remove your clocks you pull the cable so it becomes loose at the other end. What I'll do from now on is disconnect the end from the engine bay so then you don't need to pull like a fool. ::d

I just wonder are there any test from the 309GTI16 with the Golf GTI or the kadetGSI16. I have a test with civic VTEC and the golf g60, and the winner was here the 309GTI16  , wonderd if that is also the case en France.

Oh in France we had lots of tests, you can't imagine. I remember one with the GTI 8v version and it was compared with the Golf GTI 16v and it was said to be even better than the Golf. So the 309 GTI16... :hehe:

That´s funny. In German car-magazines always the German cars are winning the tests (even if they are not really better). Especially the VW Golf is always winning. French cars are always the losers there. In France it seems to be the same with the difference that the French cars are always the winners.
