Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
Since you rebuilt the engine, it is sometimes normal to consume excessive oil. Usually, it stops after 10 000 kms. If it doesn't, then there's a problem. You can also use a thicker oil.

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
Okay, is that so because the piston rings have to adapt to the buses?

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
Well, usually, there's a loose ring which thus consumes oil. It's quite normal at the beginning. Then, did you change the camshaft seals too? I assume you did since your engine was rebuilt.
The best way to make sure the car doesn't have a problem is to test it in every situation where smoke would appear. If it smokes, then there's something. But once again, it's quite normal to consume oil at the beginning and if you're sure about what you did, then relax and drive it carefully.

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
The camshaft seals where also replaced. When I drive it I don't see any smoke, but maybe I have to take a better look. I will keep an eye on it.
Thanks for your commend.

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
When the car is very hot, keep it idle and then press the accelerator firmly and briefly. If the other person behind the car sees blue smoke = too much oil. But once again, it seems you changed everything so don't worry it can be normal.

I did this when I was in the car, and I didn't see any bleu smoke, but maybe I have to look al little bit better.

Re: [Johan 309GTI16] 309GTI16 miami bleu
It's a time ago, but the car is going strong. A few weeks ago the handbrake on the right site of the car was not functional as well. There fore I went to a scrab yard and I found a good one from a 306XSI, lucky the are the same. A litle atjustment inside the car, and it's working again.
Hereby some photo's.
The last photo's where from the garage where we bought the car from. It says: have fun with it, and after 3 months: how thus it drive.

Well, it's looking great!!!!! It's a very nice car you've got! Maybe you can join us on May for our 309 meeting, it's in the North of France, 400 kms from Amsterdam.
