No, in France French cars are not always winning. People know that if you pay less, there's a reason for it.

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
But here in Holland was without doubt the 309GTI16 the winner before the Golf G60, and because in Holland we don't make these cars so we are more 'objectively' and here the 309 was/ is the best GTI.

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
I think so too. But, definetely, it really depends on which criteria you evaluate a car.
As far as I am concerned, I find the golf G60 more provocative than the 309 GTi 16 and its technology is more original. But, if the criteria is the performance, I will choose the 309 GTI 16.
I have a question: between the 206 RC and the clio RS2, which was the best in Netherlands? In France, it was the Renault. (but my favorite is the RC )

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
Indeed the Golf was a little bit more aggressive but here they sad the engine from the golf was outdated because it was an 8 valve. And the standard equipment from the golf was very poor, and the 309 was a nicer car to drive.
But it depends what you expend from a car and that is more a personal qeustion.
When the 206GTI came Peugeot didn't made real GTI's anymore, so at some test the Renault was the winner.
On this video is there a winner?

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
In the video they want to find out what is the best sports cars of the year considering the winner would have the best performance/pleasure to drive/price ratio.
1. The Fiat Uno : Eric Benard says it's a car which has nearly no interest in the category ;
2. VW Golf Rallye : He said he was very disappointed with the car because it's supposed to be the base of the upcoming rallye car and the car is really not competetive ;
3. Lancia Delta : He says it performs as a sports car, the engine is amazing, it's a 4WD and it has a great look ;
4. Nissan 200 SX : Didier Auriol says he doesn't really know if it's a sports car but it has a great engine though the suspension is way too soft and it has a great look ;
5. Mazda 323 GT : it doesn't look like a sports car but it has the behaviour of one. Brakes are good but the engine is not that good;
6. Peugeot 309 GTI16 :
- D. A. : "It's a competitive car, it's a sports car, it has a good look, it's very easy to drive, it has good and neat reactions plus it has a very good engine. I was quite impressed with the car because I had the chance to test it on mountain roads and the engine is really nice."
- E. B. : "The cars behaves very well and is very efficient plus it's very nice to drive. And we did some very promising times compared to the Porsche which is very powerful and shouldn't be in the same category."
7. Porsche Carrera 4 : "when one loves, one doesn't count the price..."
Results
First : the Peugeot 309 GTI16 which has the best ratio among all;
Second: the Porsche because it's a wonderful and very powerful car;
Third: the Mazda because it's a good compromise.

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
Thanks for this explanation.
It’s always a complement when a person with some experience, says something like this about the 309.
And I still like the drive of a 309GTI16.

Re: 309GTI16 miami bleu
Well, it depends on how much oil it consumes. What's the problem?

As I can see the level has dropped about 4/5 milimeters.
