I saw a beautiful example (GTI16) for sale in the Netherlands and it was in pristine condition too.

I know what you meen, most of 309 on the internet has rust spots at same places, especially rear arches.
I have repaired 2 times rust in the rear wheel arch but it came back.
Villeda spunge has become important accesorie to the car .

Here we don't have Vileda, but we do have sponges.
I think the worst rust you can have is in the boot, because in order to repair this... X|

You mean a white one, this is a very nice car, I don’t really like the color, but it seems this one is in extreme good condition. The engine is a rfs from a 306GTI. This one is not really original anymore.

Rust in the boot is more common than exception unfortunately. On my 309 I carved out the rusted plate back in the boot. Important is to keep the holes open and remove all the dirt inside the wheel arches

That’s really a nice 309. A pity that this one is not nearby, would love to drive this one.
This one is also a nice one.

Indeed, keep them open and wash al the dirt off. And when a rust spot appears, I usualy tackle this spot.

Indeed, it should have the MI16 engine. But some say the RFS is more reliable, I think it's also how you treat a car.

Yeah, I totally agree with you!! These XU engines from Peugeot are very reliable indeed, and they all are. The XU9J4 is no exception, but yes, it has some flaws, but every engine has some. Of course it depends on how you treat your car. We know that!

It's a engine with a character what I like. I now that the 3the bearing is a weak spot, seen some enigine blown at the 3 cilinder.

Did some work this weekend, a bit of a personal touch, without disrupting it's originality.
