OK. I said bad news because such a car in France would have been declared as "wrecked"

That's really good that the guy is paying.
Here in Romania getting a car repaired through insurance can take months!

Here in France, it is almost rapid: they declare "not worthwhile repairing" and then if you are not responsible, you have got a small amount of money... and your car is recycled.

I will try and document the repairs. I think by Saturday all will be done. I only hope that the geometry of the rear end will be fine.

What do you mean? A car like this wouldn't get repaired? That's not fair.

Yeah, that's the case in most of Europe. I mean, look at it like this. You can buy a car like this for 400eur. One hour in the shop costs about 80-120eur, that's in a licensed garage, and insurances only use those. A little accident like mine takes more than 10 hours to repair, that's if the guys know their stuff.

Here in Serbia it is a lot different. Here insurances make contracts with whomever has a registered shop. The working hour is priced at 15eur in such shops, with the majority charging 50eur for a days worth of work. And the 309 here range from 600/700eur up to 1700-1800eur. So it is rent-able to repair them.

The car is in the shop now. I will check on the progress later. I found a new door that's in great shape, only different in color.

Yes, I saw your Citroen. But that is very minor. Only replace the fender.
I appologise for so many pictures, tell me if there are too many.

Here you can see some work done:

The old door

I also bought a new front fascia and the right hand fender that had rust on it, as well as the metal bar that goes between the headlights and the front bumper. Tomorrow we start preping her for painting and anti-corrosion protection.

This man has been in the business for 42 years, owns his own shop since '69. He says that the 309 is a very good car, but hard to repair

Very good job !! i've never seen a car fixed that fast !! :langue2:

BTW, here in France, not much people would repair an "old" 309 nowadays.. or they bill a lot of €€€ !!

I think that i will go to your country to make a full paint !!

P.S : you took a 309 Chorus door to replace yours !

Yes, the door... Now I don't know how to put the plastic strip on it. The one that is there in case you lean the door on something, as not to scratch it

Please help!
