My 309 Gti16

Hey guys,

here are some pictures of my 309 Gti16 which I bought in a really bad condition and rebuilt in over one year. The entire work was mainly done by me and my brother without the help of professionals but I think it went out pretty well

So here we go, some pictures how it looked in the beginning:





In the beginning I didn't think that such a huge amount of work would have to be done. But over time the thought to rebuild the car in a very good way instead of only making it driveable grew bigger and bigger.

































Then after 15 months it was almost finished:










After being somehow bored by the SL299s I fitted 16" Ouragan wheels and adjustable coilovers.






The last change was again the wheels, I found nice Gutmann alloys and tried some semislick-like Yokohama tyres on it. Great to drive but I think for the next season I'm gonna look for new wheels (probably SL299 or SL434).

You did a great job of restoring it. I saw that the rebuild was already in 2004. Are the last pictures newly taken.

The last pictures are from August 2009. Since then I didn't change anything and I also didn't take any new photos. Last time I was driving with the car was in 2010 after the international meeting. I'm very sad that it's standing since then. But this year it's gonna come back on the road - at least for some weeks.

Thank you for your comments. But always be aware that the car looks better on pictures than it does in real. Since I'm not really content with the body works, I'm planning a stage 2 rebuild:
The rear wheel arches must be replaced, some cosmetical work where we replaced the rear sheet panel, some work to conserve the complete body for the next 20 or 30 years and finally I want to get rid of the sun roof. The car looks much better without this thing on top. Then I will try to find someone to do an extra-perfect paintjob and everything will be fine for a loooong time :-)

Btw: which set of wheels do you like the most? I'm not sure what to "wear" this summer.

How is it possible not to like the sunroof???? It's absolutely fantastic in my opinion, plus it adds something to the car shape.
Regarding the pictures, I really like the original wheels. Maybe it's because I'm used to seeing them, but I think they fit the car just so right. Anyway, it's a matter of taste. But your car looks definitely very nice, even if the pictures always look good.

wow,i always liked those rims pulled in,nice pick on rims,i must say they look really good on it.

that last pics looks like taken from some peugeot 309 manual,you know,when they present the car,got a talent for it
