I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Milos and i come from Serbia. I own a 309 GR '86 5 door with a 1.3 simca engine.

I got my 309 from my grandfather, as a present for getting my drivers licence, like two years ago. Since then I've put about 120000km more on the clock. This car has given me incredible and found memories and I wouldn't change it for the world. As it's pretty old, wear and tear are obvious, but she still runs great.

Since I've had it I did a lot of repairs, as it was in bad shape, did a lot of things myself. Like when I bought power windows and installed them according to the original wiring diagram, because my car didn't have the necessary wiring... it's just one of the things i had done...

I will put up some pictures as soon as i am able to, until then, I hope this will be a great experience, talking to all of you...

Best regards,
Milos

I dont know if this is the right place, but i wanted to share some photos of some work i have done in the past on my dear 309. So i decided to start with this.

I had my speedo cable break, and it messed up my speedo in the instrument panel, so i got another one.

I found exactly the same type as was the stock one and fitted it with a new cable. because i couldn't find a original part i had a guy make me one. The cable was badly made and the speedo went once again.

I searched for like two months before i found the right cable and then got another instrument panel from a vital. The guy gave it to me for free and said the car it was from was crashed and the speedo didn't work. but i knew i could fix it, or at least try.

So i did my best and now everything works great. Here are some pictures of the dismantling.

Hi Milos and welcome to you and to your 309!!
1.3 Simca-Talbot... I've got it in one my 309s and this engine rocks! It's very tough and except some carburettor-related problems, it never breaks and doesn't need much service.
I guess you don't see many 309s on Serbian roads.
Oh, and if you want to open a topic on your car, you should do it on the "The 309 showroom" forum.

Actually, they are not that rare in Serbia. But what is the major problem is the very low standard of living here and very high cost of maintenance. The roads are really. really bad. I'll post a picture so you get an idea of how bad it is.

I will move my post of the speedo to the showroom.
