Hi from Ontario

Hi to you all,

I currently have two 309's, one is a Mk1GLX and the other a Mk2 GTi. I have had other Peugeots previously, including two 1.9 205 GTi's, back in the late 80's / early 90's. I am currently planning on shipping the UK GTi back to Canada and so will be looking at this Forum to find parts required to help me transform from right hand to left hand drive. This will then be a great car to run on North American roads!!

Welcome here.
A 309 GTI in north America, nice idea!
You talk about "transform from right hand to left hand drive", you want to put the steering wheel to the right from left?
This is not technically impossible but to do it properly (and like peugeot) you have to change the bulkhead! (N°5):

Thanks for that info - I see that the bulkhead / pedal assembly / scuttle panel etc will need looking at and the best route I have thought of is to find a donor LHD car will be used for parts for the Gti - must be phase 2 and in black for the dashboard.

Hi there, and welcome in here!
The job is not that complicated, but quite long. Plus you need some parts, and some are quite rare now. Consider joining our club since you'll be able to order just any part you want. Shipping a dashboard to Canada shouldn't be that expensive since it's quite light, but the problem is to find the part! With the club, you pay little money for very good benefits, and any part you want at the best possible price.

There is an option that I will probably use - I will ship the parts to where the car is currently stored (UK) and those will be shipped with the car free of charge.

Yes sure - please send me details about this club - the info coming from this forum is really useful!

Well, the club exists to help people maintain their 309. We've got some good deals but the best is by far the chance to get rare parts, including the ones that Peugeot doesn't produce nor sell anymore. We've got contacts with stock holders, and any member of L'Amicale 309 can request the parts he wants. Parts are either new or in good condition, depending on the part, obviously. You can find more info here.
BTW, why not exporting your car as is?
