Noise in first case.A test: when one of your wheel is lifted up while the other is on the ground, put your gearbox on position number 5 and go at 40 km/h and then put the idle mode. You must not heard strange noise coming from the gearbox.

It is hard to hear well. When you detect the vibration, by pushing the clutch, does it stop?

"There is a stop here but we'll just ignore that". ![Dan.San :hehe:](./images/smilies/4.gif)
It seems the rev goes up as the speed doesn't, right?

Re: My 309GR 1.3 '86
yes it stops upon pushing the clutch. even if you do not take your foot of the gas, the vibration stops. and the engine at the same rpm in neutral does not cause any vibration.thefunkyboy a écrit :It is hard to hear well. When you detect the vibration, by pushing the clutch, does it stop?
Yes, you can feel how there is the same amount of acceleration but the revs get much higher then the speed gained. The two get in sinch after a few moments, but still, imagine when overtaking a truck on a mountain road and your clutch slips.... I hope changing the clutch set will resolve that, but the vibration is of bigger concern. Because I don't want to remove my transmission twice. I want to locate the source so I can fix that as well when the transmission is removed.alargeau a écrit :"There is a stop here but we'll just ignore that".

Re: My 309GR 1.3 '86
For the vibration, I am almost sure that it is a matter of cardan shafts. I already got this trouble on my cars.
Try to evaluate the play of each cardan shaft. You just have to catch the axle with your hand and try to make it move. Normally, it doesn't move. On my car, I got a "cling clong" by doing this test. I changed the two cardan shafts and the vibration disappears.
Generally, it is easy to test the small cardan shaft, a little bit more difficult to test the long one because of the inferior engine mount mounted with a bearing. If you don't want to spend too muche money, test the small one and change it if you doubt.

Re: My 309GR 1.3 '86
Well, I'm not sure the vibrations are due to driveshafts because they do not make the car vibrate unless they are in very bad shape. They usually tend to make a thumping sound whereas here it seems to cause vibrations. But check them out anyway, it takes 15 secs and they are quite weak.
Regarding the slipping clutch, it's definitely a problem with the clutch, so change the whole kit.

Re: My 309GR 1.3 '86
I replaced my right drive shaft last month, and will do so with the left because I know it's bad for a while now. Thanks for all your help. I will post some pictures of the whole operation when i do it, because I didn't see any G1A work on the forum. If there are some topics, could you point them out?

Re: My 309GR 1.3 '86
Not many people here have a G1. I think we are 3 or 4. They prefer to buy mk2 309 with TU engines. I personally think the G1 is one of the best engine fitted on the 309, it's economical, very very very tough, easy to repair and it was simply built to last.
That's too bad, because I don't think about taking pictures when I work on my 309 (mainly because I give the car to my mechanic). I changed the driveshafts some months ago and be careful of the brand you buy because some are definitely bad quality.
I'll try to make a sort of list of problems depending on engines.

Re: My 309GR 1.3 '86
Yes I know. But the G1 is almost the same as the simca 1.1 so we that have G1 should try to post a little more on the engines. In Serbia there is a law that every part has to have a guarantee of 6 months. So in my case that is like 20000km
When I started driving the 309 I had a oil warning lamp failure in the instrument panel. And at the same time my oil seal on the crankshaft transmission side failed. Leading to me driving 2000km without enough oil. Since then the engine burns oil. And I am really pissed that a 20cent lamp has cost me a perfect engine.

For the cardan shaft, you are almost right Aurelien but when it is in very bad state,it causes great vibration until breaking... Lol!

Watch out for the garantee definition. The part is garanteed, not the operation. Wich means, if there's a problem with the part in itself, the garantee will be ok. But let's suppose that the part is ok, but you didnt change it well (it's a supposition), the company will not accept to replace it or even repair the damages that it might have caused..if they manage to proove that it was an repairing default, you're screwed !missa91 a écrit :Yes I know.
