I once used a crow bar. That helped a lot. Use a LOT of WD40 and hammer on the screws, but don't damage them, go easy, from side to side. Then again WD40. If not this way, try loosening the screws using a air impact wrench, I think you know what I mean, Compressed air driven tool for tightening wheel bolts, but it has to have the impact function.

With the manifold you need to be persistent. If it wont come of, then be persuasive, take a hammer and persuade it.

To add an idea: use a very good key, like chrome vanadium KS Tools, Facom or Norauto (I don't know if you have this brand in Romania).
First time I did this operation, i used a standard one and it was very hard.

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine
The smell is somewhat gone, but still very bad. I went to someone else, the one who gave me the manifold, and he will change it next week.
The clutch is still squeaking, the mechanic says it should go away after awhile. I barely drove the car since I changed the clutch, so he might be right...

One day, I put a product to seal off an exhaust leak, a part goes into the exhaust system and then , it smelled for some kilometers xD
Let's wait and see for your clutch. controle and check if the sound increases

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine
What about the advance on the ignition? How much did you set it to? I need to check my ignition once again, because I've done everything to reduce consumption, but it has no effect. I followed the 1.5-2.5K rpm rule and the consumption is the same as when I drive it at 3.5K (120kph 5th gear) about 11l/100km LPG.

I set it to 10, but you gave the 1294cc G1 engine right? You should set it to 8. See below:missa91 a écrit :What about the advance on the ignition? How much did you set it to? Thanks for the picture. It's great that you have such a handbook. What book is this? How can I get it?

Just came of the road. I need to go out again tomorrow. Is there any news on the handbooks? If I can help in any way, just say the word!

I had a look at the english versions and there's no such indication as found in the Swiss one. There's only general data.

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine
I did almost 500km with this new clutch (not just city), the squeaking is still there. It's the same, not louder nor quieter.
It is not only at idle, but always when the peddle is not pressed.

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine
One day, a guy told me that it is possible to check the tightening of the shafts.
One is accessible normally by removing the left part of the gearbox. But I have some doubt if it works on the BE1, or only on the BE3

Re: Restoring the power of a 1986 110bhp XU92C engine
Anyone know if the exhaust manifold is identical in diameter between mine and one from a 1.6 309?
Because that is the one I bought. The seller said it is identical, but I want to be sure.
