Hello,
my name is Thomas and I come from Germany. I live near Stuttgart in southern Germany, in Kornwestheim. Please excuse my bad English but my school has been a while ago :oops: .
I work as trainers for train drivers at the Deutsche Bahn AG.
To my car:

I drive a Peugeot 309 Graffic 5-door with 75 hp and the 1.4 TU3M engine, built 1992.It currently has just under 170,000 kilometers down and is almost in original condition.
I have changed:
-from Veglia tachometer with tachometer retrofitted
-Dashboard of 309 SX
-Glove compartment lighting retrofitted
-Glass roof
I drive it only in summer and in fine weather .

Then I have a Mercedes-Benz B200 CDI with 140 hp diesel engine from 2006.

Thank you. I like the Peugeot 309 very much, and so do I take care of it. There are in Germany, unfortunately, not many of them. And it was my first car with the license.
I will certainly try to the International 309 meetings to come, which will certainly be interesting. I have only until October / November to know the exact date because at work then I must apply for leave.
If I leave, I will get in any case with my 309 to be there from Germany!

yes, this is real. Now, since -I think June or July-we have two different systems in Germany. All cars which were built and registered since November 2008 are falling under the new system (or the old when this is cheaper). The other (older) cars are in the old system like before. At the old system there are the classes Euro 1 to Euro 6. The taxes are based on the size of the engine. But the old cars which have Euro 1 or Euro 2 have more emisions, they must pay more than the owner of a car with the same size of the engine which has Euro 5, for example. The 309, for example, has Euro 1 and so I have to pay for my 1361 ccm engine 211 € for one year. A VW Golf with 1.4 engine and Euro 5 must pay 98 €. Owner of Diesel cars must pay more, but the fuel is cheaper then this for Otto-engined cars. For my Mercedes-Benz with 1991 ccm Diesel-engine I must pay 308 € for one year (Euro 4).
By the new system taxation of gasoline cars with 2 € per started 100 cm ³ engine, diesel passenger car with 9.50 € per started 100 cm ³ engine capacity. It also takes into account the CO2 emissions of the car, to 120 g/km is free (you just pay for the started ccm), from 120 g/km you have to pay 2 € for each new g/km.

Because of that I have a number plate with a limited validity from April to October - so the 309 costs me "only" 124 € taxes (unfortunately I´m not rich ). Disadvantage: On sunny days in winter I can not go with the 309 and must wait until spring ... But luckily I've still got the Mercedes
