So,here are some pictures and info about my 309.
First of all,i got to say this car has been long in our family and is my dear frend

It is a 1.9 diesel engine ,1987.
It probably has more than 1 million km but unfortunatly,the clock was resetted after major repair-restoration of the engine.
After reparation,it has more than 225 000km.
Having some problems with water leakage,but major enemy is the rust.
Rust is showing everywhere,especially on the rear sides,on the arches.
Anyway,its an incredible car,people here drive mostly VW golf diesels and are surprise when they see the french cavalry 309 marching with engine good as theirs and interrior with more style than boring VW

Front bumper is from XSI 309.



You wouldnt belive how many parts have been change on this car,i meen,only engine and chasis is original,everything else,from rear axe to front bumper has been change.Still its rolling like a boss

This is an incredible engine you've got! It seems it never wants to die.
The only think that is better on VW is the interior quality, plastics are way better than the Peugeot's because when you dismantle plastics, you always fear to break them. And sometimes you do.

Alargeau i know,the engine is perpetum mobile machine ,only problem is that coolant water is leaking somwhere.
Yes your right,interior plastic are bad,i already replace it few time

I had some radiator water leakage,brown stain on driver carpet.

This was supposed to be donor car,dad bought it just for that but i didnt wanted to be dismantled and destroyed,so currently is on stand by.Most of the parts are stripped and in garage,im missing rear axe and some mechanical parts.
The status of the engine is still unknown,dont know if its gonna work or not,im hoping it will

You've got to restore this one, it's very rare you know!! Even if it takes time, I think you won't regret it!

It was to be sent into junkyard to be crushed into cube but i didnt have heart to do it so i took it under my protection

edit:im confused a little bit about the engine of this petrol 1.9.
it says it is DFZ-86 type meaning (XU9J) code,but on wikipedia XU family type are only GTI.
XS are only 1.5,on wikipedia.
My is XS,1.9 engine but there is nothing on the internet about this engine like it dont exists.

Wikipedia is wrong... The 1.5 is not a XU, and it only existed in Spain. There are only 1.6 and 1.9 petrol XU on the 309 and both were fitted to non-GTI 309s. DFZ is, as you know it, the XU9J1 and it was fitted to GTIs only in Japan (in Europe only for non-GTI and GTI but in mk1).

But sure that is one rare car you've got with this combination (XU9J1 + 3 door + mk1 + XS) so you really don't want to dismantle it, you should take your time and restore it, that's a future classic!!! If you can tell me the VIN by PM I could probably tell you where the car was first sold.

Soit-disant que les premières 309 GTI l'avaient aussi car le XU9JAZ n'existait pas encore, ce qui est confirmé par contre c'est que la 205 GTI l'avait avec tout le reste (trains roulants, finition) de la 1.6.

The first GTIs in some countries had the 1.6 104 hp engine, not the XU9J1.
