Ace-Rimmer is absolutely right. There's no point in trying to get more power out of this engine. I have the same engine and you can simply forget about this idea. You will waste money and you won't gain much, if anything at all by the way...
This engine is one of the strongest they made, so it was used to be driven for lots of kilometers and not complain. That's the very good point of this engine by the way. It is indestructible, doesn't need a lot of attention, and is very easy to repair. Plus it's very cheap to maintain. So don't see the glass as half-empty, see it as half-full.
So if you want a 309 with more power, the only solution would be to buy another 309.

You can upgrade the 1.3 with parts of Simca 1000 Rallye 2/3 or 1100 TI ; but what about the performance/price ratio?

Thanks all for the feedback Today my father continued the rear end and we got the holes ready for the phase 2 lights. Things aren't simple as imagined but we already got the things to solve the problem. Tomorrow I will upload some photos of what happened today . Can any one suggest me a good set of alloys for my pug and best inch and width due that I will be lowering it with coil overs we tried my cousins 406 coupe16" rims, but the tyres are to big :S need to change them to low profile to be sure 16" fit any of you got 16" on ?

16" will be too much! I have got this kind of wheels, it perfectly fits to a 406... a 309 is too small for such wheels.

I advise you to find 15" allows, you have the choice. It depends on the money you want to spend.

Maybe the original peugeot 15¨ 309 GTI rims,i think they are great and you wont have problems with anything cuz they are just for this car.
If you put 16 even on an low profile,it wont work becose the wheel will touch the inside of the arch every time you pass on something on the road (speedbumps,holes,etc).Also,you will be lowering so i think its impossible to drive lowered 309 on an 16¨ wheels.

Im interested to see your progress with the rear lights,i really dont know how many work or problems will you come up to,i think so far nobody had tried that.

Good morning , Thanks for your replys . I don't no exactly, as I will be using them every day that was my problem that a 16 " would be to much. What do you think of these rims ??

i think that rim is maybe AEZ,dont know.

both rims would look good on your 309

Or maybe OZ wheels... Anyway be careful, if you put 15" or more you will kill your shafts and they're quite expensive.

Another thing the rear grill is off to be duplicated with fibre. Since the shape of the boot is different some modifications were a necessity

wow,it looks like your project with the 309 is going in good direction.
I think its gonna be great when you put it together,and,you are gonna confuse many 309 fans becose they gonna be braking their heads with the question is it phase 1 or 2

Make sure you isolate it really good,no water leaks like peugeot originaly had done with phase 1 hahah

Considering the coilovers,are you planing to do a engine swap,or some modifications on your engine?
If no,than buying coilovers for a low power car is,i think,a waste of money.
I dont know,but this is good only if you build a fast car who needs every help to stay on the road.
could be wrong,but thats what i think.

Anyway,its your car frend,you do what you want.
