What you mention is called a drive shaft. It's probably the wheel side. I don't know on your particular transmission model if you can replace only the side by the wheel or the whole drive shaft, as is the case with mine. It's not that alarming, but if you let it persist, it will damage the wheel bearing or the suspension. Also, after a long time unattended, it can break and make a lot of mess, not to mention the car is then immobile.

Yes that is the part. I thought that a drive shaft was somenthing else.

I am not sure if I can replace it piece by piece, but both parts are worn, so I will buy a new one.

In my experience quality drive shafts are expensive. I could choose here by three quality grades, first there was this Italian made for 120eur, the second one was a german refurbished one for 170eur, and a french original for 260eur. Note that this is the left drive shaft, which is some 30% cheaper than the right.

Are you still loyal to Peugeot or is the daily driver some other make?

You better buy GTI drive shafts, normally all the new ones are strong GTI models but be carefull with refurbished parts.

No it is not my daily driver anymore but I still maintain it.

I want to change the drive shaft this week. And it seems that there are 2 models available for the left side.

One is 575mm long, they have it in stock, GR is the brand, 80euro, new. I also found it for a mere 45 euro, but I am not sure if it is available any more, new also.

And the other is over 600mm long, 110 euro, and they can't bring it anymore.

What is the correct one for my car?

What about the transmission oil? What grade should I use?

It depends on the climate. I use some Total, I think it's SAE80-90. But I'm not sure about your transmission.
